Afinal quantos servidores Atom cabem em um rack de 42U?

Achei uma discussão muito interessante no WHT-US, o autor do topico só queria saber quantos servidores Atom de 1U ele poderia como colocar em um rack de 42U

- primeiro veio a resposta obvia: 42

- depois, esquentou com soluções de blades da supermicro que poderiam chegar a 84, 160 e 320

- ate aparecer uma usando esta placa monstro (para não dizer nano-placa) : pITX-SP - pITX 2.5" SBC - Boards & Mezzanines > Embedded SBC > pITX 2.5" SBC > pITX-SP | Kontron

e chagamos ao impressionante numero de 1000:

Supermicro fixed this cable mess with the new Microcloud chassis. eth ports are aligned in a way that you can simply use a 24-port switch on top of each Microcloud unit, and use 0.5' patch cables to connect it to the switch; or then use a 48-port switch and two microcloud units, with the switch between both, and the top unit upside down (Chong, can you test if it is possible? :-) so that all ports are lined up and very near the switch ports.

This second setup is exactly 7U, an exact number when stacking on a 42U rack.

168 usando os Twin^3 da Supermicro; com a desvantagem de que precisa desligar 2 servidores para fazer manutenção em um só (são 8 máquinas em 4 bandejas em um enclosure de 2U; logo, cada bandeja pra ser removida tem de desligar 2 servidores).

Sim, mas é uma solução proprietária e em design toroidal; para um cluster é perfeito; para servidores independentes, esqueça.

Sim, mas o que eu apontei (Microcloud) é para processadores mais potentes (E3-12xx e futuramente E5-26xx). 16 servidores em 7U e sem a zona do cabeamento.
