[EN] Fastly chega a São Paulo
Fastly was launched in July 2011 with 7 employees and a mission to make Web experiences faster. Four years later, Fastly has 240 employee, five offices, 26 global points of presence (POPs).
Adding a POP in Brazil will support their growing Internet population with high performing websites and just in time for high-traffic content events such as the 2016 Olympic Games
In keeping pace with expanding content delivery traffic, CDN provider Fastly has announced an addition of two new Points of Presence (POPs) in Brisbane and Perth, Australia and one a new South American POP in São Paulo, Brazil. With additional access point reach, this will allow further support for real-time web, app, and API traffic to vastly increase for current customers and for those entering the market in these countries. Additionally, adding a POP in Brazil will support their growing internet population with high performing websites and just in time for high-traffic content events such as the 2016 Olympic Games.
Fastly is funded by Amplify Partners, August Capital, Battery Ventures, Iconiq Capital, IDG Ventures, and O’Reilly AlphaTech Ventures. With offices in San Francisco, New York, London, Tokyo and Denver, Fastly powers popular online destinations including Twitter, the Guardian, GOV.UK, Imgur, Fast Company, GitHub, Wayfair, Pinterest, and Shazam.
With the company’s increasing availability of new locations, features, and capacity, Fastly now hits 1 Tb/second of bandwidth for their content delivery services, making them a viable fierce competitor.

Drupal.org Migrates Content and File Delivery to Fastly
Fastly is now serving up all of our traffic from the *.drupal.org domain Drupal sites and related services.
Drupal.org and its services handle over 1.5 billion requests per month; this is a massive amount of traffic for an open source project.
Every time cron runs the update service on your Drupal site, it talks to updates.drupal.org. Every time you download a copy of Drupal or any projects on Drupal.org, you talk to ftp.drupal.org. (We see over 400,000 downloads of Drupal core in a typical month—way more around DrupalCons and major community sprints.)
Each month we have over 15 million unique pageviews on Drupal.org—by over 2 million unique visitors.
All of those stats are about to rise significantly with the launch of Drupal 8. Drupal 7 caused a 30% bump in traffic when it was released and we expect even more with the launch of Drupal 8.
