[EN] ProfitBricks fecha escritório no Texas

Provedor alemão lançou IaaS prometendo guerra de preços contra AWS. Deu no que deu.

A German-based cloud computing company, ProfitBricks Inc., opened an office in the San Antonio market in 2014 but now the firm is switching gears and leaving the Alamo City officials confirmed today.

"ProfitBricks will be making a strategic decision that enhances our ability to sell cloud services in the North American market," said Achim Weiss, chief executive officer of ProfitBricks in a recent email. "And that necessitated the closing down of the San Antonio office."

Weiss said that the company will be discussing more of its new strategy soon. It was not immediately clear whether the Cambridge, Massachusetts office will continue to stay open.

ProfitBricks billed itself as one of the lowest-priced cloud infrastructure as a service product on the market. Access to a cloud savvy talent pool is one reason the company told the San Antonio Business Journal in November 2014 they decided to set up shop at La Cantera center in Northwest San Antonio.

The company projected there would be about 30 employees on site.

While the tech firm may compete with Rackspace Hosting Inc. with a seemingly similar line of products, the company initially didn't offer managed hosting like the local tech giant.

The price of cloud computing continues to drop across the board. Recently Amazon Web Services announced a 5 percent cut in pricing in select markets this month.

ProfitBricks Survey Identifies High Availability, Disaster Recovery in the Cloud as Most Important Opportunities in 2016 for MSPs

SAN ANTONIO, TX--(Marketwired - Dec 16, 2015) - As Managed Service Providers (MSPs) and Value Added Resellers (VARs) move their customers to the cloud, they're finding higher profit margins for servers, storage and networks and launching a variety of services which had been beyond their abilities before the cloud. ProfitBricks, the leading provider of painless cloud infrastructure, announced today the results of a survey the company conducted at IT Nation in November 2015, which predicted that high availability, disaster recovery and recurring revenue will be the top opportunities for MSPs in 2016.

For this survey, channel leaders were asked how they see the cloud transforming their channel business in 2016. More than 17% of MSPs surveyed for this study reported "high availability" as being the most important opportunity when it comes to cloud computing in the coming year. By ensuring applications will always be available despite any application or server level failure, their customers can continue business as usual without interruption. Similarly, disaster recovery was cited by 15% of MSPs as being the most important cloud computing consideration in 2016, followed by recurring revenue at 14% as one of the biggest advantages.

"The results of this survey confirmed what we've been seeing emerge for some time now," commented Achim Weiss, CEO and co-founder of ProfitBricks. "The channel is moving to the cloud at an unprecedented rate, and MSPs now have the unique opportunity to increase revenue and effectiveness if they offer services that only the cloud enables them to do. It's clear that 2016 will be a year where the channel embraces the opportunities that cloud computing presents for augmenting their offerings and increasing business value."

This survey was conducted by ProfitBricks in written form, with a sample size of 2,000 MSPs over the course of a three-day period. Participants were selected as they visited ProfitBricks' booth at IT Nation.

To continue this discussion, The 2112 Group's Larry Walsh will be joining ProfitBricks on January 20, 2016 for a webinar on how MSPs can make the most of cloud infrastructure opportunities and profit from the cloud transition. To register for this webinar, please visit
